Parthenogenetic Reproduction in the Ocelot Gecko, Paroedura picta (Peters, 1854) (Squamata: Gekkonidae)

Abstract


The first case of optional parthenogenesis has been described in the ocelot gecko Paroedura picta (Peters, 1854). The female was kept separate from the males from the moment of birth, which excludes sperm storage (amphigonia retardata).
