Foam Gland and Chemical Analysis of the Foam of Polypedates leucomystax (Gravenhorst 1829) (Anura: Rhacophoridae)

Abstract


Topography, histological and scanning electronmicroscopical investigations of the foam gland of female Polypedates leucomystax are presented. A chemical analysis of the freshly produced foam was carried out. The biological function of the foam nests is discussed.
